Louisa Ann GRANT was born 16 September, 1815 in St. Vincent , West Indies. She was the daughter of Major Charles Grant of Adelphi Estate on St Vincent in the Caribbea. Her parents divorced in 1828.
Her brothers were George GRANT and Charles Henry GRANT. It would appear from WH Grant’s 1927 genealogical chart brother George lost his life along with his children George and Charles and other off-spring in 1902 when La Soufrière violently erupted.
She married Dr. John LISTER in Kensington, London, 11 April 1844. Dr John LISTER (1802-1867) inherited Shibden Hall from Anne Lister in 1840 (who in turn had inherited it from her uncle James in 1826).(Source: Researched by the Social History Curator and Museums Education Officer using original documentation and artifacts).
She died in Shibden Hall, Lister’s Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire, England on 4 April 1892.
Louisa was the daughter of Major Charles GRANT (q.v.), who was the son of Charles Grant of Carron (q.v.) and grandson of James Grant of Carron.
Niece of George Colquhoun Grant.
