Rebecca BATTLE was the mother of the infamous lesbian diarist, Anne LISTER. She was born near Brough in the East Riding of Yorkshire. She married Captain Jeremy LISTER on 2 August 1788.
Rebecca and Captain Jeremy had 6 children. All the boys died in infancy or youth.
