Anne LISTER aunt of the famous diarist Anne LISTER, was the youngest child of Jeremy LISTER. Sister of James LISTER, and aunt and godmother of Anne LISTER. She never married and died in Shibden Hall in 1836.
Her niece, Anne Lister’s planned trip to Russia was called off resulting from her needing to return to Shibden Hall after receiving news of her aunt’s demise.
She was housekeeper at Shibden Hall for her brother. From 1819 she made several trips to Paris with her niece, Anne.
She suffered from arthritis and used what is now the New Buttery at Shibden Hall, as her bedroom.
