Elizabeth Emma Humberstone, also known as Emma Elisabeth, was the daughter of Henry Humberstone, publican. The Humberstones were in Aramac, Queensland when Charles married Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Emma Humberstone married Charles Henry Anthony Grant at Barcaldine on 16 November 1891 (Australian Marriage Index, Page 12425, Registration No.000056). Charles was 21 years of age and Elizabeth 35.
Charles and Elizabeth had two daughters, Greta Jane and Adelaide May, both born in Queensland.
The Humberstones appear to have been on the wrong side of the law in several states (refer to The Age newspaper article, 11 August 1870 – A Decoy House), and it is likely that Elizabeth’s family name was disguised on the Grant family tree to distance the Grants from the Humberstones.
It appears that Charles and Elizabeth moved to Kalgoorlie when the Humberstones moved there in 1895. It is not clear when Elizabeth and the two girls moved to Sydney after Charles’ death at Kalgoorlie in 1902. Charles was buried in the Anglican Section of the Kalgoorlie Cemetery on 10 April 1902, the day after his death. Elizabeth died at Paddington NSW, Sydney on 26 January 1926.
