A James Thomas GRANT was recorded on Frances Anne’s eldest child’s, Rhoda Alice birth certificate as the father. He was said to be born about 1850 and said to have died about 1885 in Australia.
Frances Anne HAMMERTON later married William Henry GRANT (son of Charles Henry GRANT and Emma Catherine RICHARDSON) on 06 February 1886 in Balmain, NSW, Australia. DNA evidence strongly suggests that Frances Anne HAMMERTON’s first child, Rhoda Alice was the offspring of one James Daniel GRANT (1860-1934). He was born and died in South Australia. James’s parents were James Daniel GRANT (1834-1862) and Grace BARR (1835-1910). There is no evidence to suggest that Frances Anne HAMMERTON and James Daniel GRANT (Jr.) were ever married. James Daniel GRANT was still alive when Frances Anne HAMMERTON married William Henry GRANT in Sydney in 1886. And in 1887, James Daniel GRANT married Mary Anne PLUMMER (1857-) in Adelaide.
